FORGOTTON VOICES

"Forgotton Voices" is a music performance for children that brings to life classical compositions written by women across history. Performed by four female musicians from the Copenhagen-based collective Damkapellet, the concert is a playful and theatrical journey through forgotten musical voices, from medieval Hildegard von Bingen to modern Kaija Saariaho. The aim is to inspire young audiences and highlight the often-overlooked contributions of female composers.
As a filmmaker and storyteller, I was invited to join "Glemte Stemmer" in St. Petersburg to document this magical encounter between music, history, and children. Through my lens, I captured the awe, the wonder- and the quiet shifts happening in the room as young minds were introduced to female composers for the first time.

It is more than a performance, it’s a moment where art and education meet, and allows the children to just listen!
With instruments in hand and stories in motion, Glemte Stemmer invites children into a world where music is alive, theatrical, and inclusive.
